Original Penguin

Posted in: Brands We Sell | Comments (0)

In 1955, Minneapolis-based Munsingwear – an underwear and military supply company – ironically became the touchstone of suburban sport with the introduction of the first iconic golf shirt to America – an ORIGINAL PENGUIN®. The now famous ORIGINAL PENGUIN logo has an interesting story behind it. As history tells us, one of Munsingwear’s salesmen spotted a flock of penguins in the window of a New York taxidermist – and on what seems like a lark, bought one of the stuffed birds. And before long, “Pete” the penguin became the official mascot and logo of golf shirts. Its first shirt – the 1955, was an instant golf classic, first to feature an “action gusset” or a ribbed slice of fabric on the underarm to avoid rips during even the most enthusiastic golf swing.

an ORIGINAL PENGUIN® by Munsingwear became a staple among the masters of suburban leisure well into the 1980s – worn by the likes of Arnold Palmer, Bob Hope, Bing Crosby and Richard Nixon. In 2003, an ORIGINAL PENGUIN® was recreated by a group of people who love great style and smart clothing. Today’s style makers (you) have evolved this legend and made it your very own. Thank you. Original Penguin are proud to design collections for people with such great intellect, style and humor.

Paramedics get on their bikes

Posted in: Bikes | Comments (0)

Under a new scheme being launched in Edinburgh and the Lothians, paramedics will be weaving in and out crowds by specialist bicycle.
The bikes will become a regular feature at all large-scale spectacles, including the festival but will not act as a replacement for traditional vehicles.
The objective is to allow paramedics ease of access among big crowds to carry out basic treatments.
The two bikes – which have been fully kitted out in bright ambulance colours and logos – would give them an additional resource to respond to a variety of incidents
It is unlikely the cycles will be on hand at sporting events or concerts, where emergency response will be left to more heavy duty vehicles.
The mountain bikes are similar to ones occasionally used by Lothian and Borders police for the same purpose, and indicates a further branching out of the ambulance service. There are no plans to fit the bikes with flashing lights or sirens. Mr Alexander added: “I think the only siren will be the paramedic’s voice.”

Adidas grass court shoe

Posted in: Brand News | Comments (0)

Adidas is proud to announce the launch of a new grass court shoe outsole, developed in conjunction with The All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC) and designed to protect the most hallowed turf in tennis. adidas Tennis footwear developers have worked with Wimbledon for the past two years to create a new outsole for renowned CC Feather shoe that will provide the best possible grip on one of tennis’s most testing surfaces, while also reducing the wear and tear of the grass.

The adidas CC Feather IV Grass shoe was developed specifically with the London 2012 Olympic Games in mind when tennis will be played on Wimbledon’s grass courts just a few weeks after the Grand Slam has finished.

Traditional grass court footwear digs in to the turf to provide grip which in turn causes extreme court damage. The new outsole on the CC Feather IV Grass features an innovative dimple pattern with fewer, softer and longer spikes. As these spikes are dragged along the surface of the grass they provide unrivalled grip whilst also giving a flat push off area which ensures quick directional change for all players.
